Hello from a Penon user
« on: July 09, 2011, 12:19:14 AM »
Hello All.

Just became member of this popular forum, even though have visited the marketplace forum a few times.
Living in Bangalore now. Been a Pentax user for long time. Actually, I should have said K-mount user, as my first 2 SLRs were Ricoh then moved to Pentax brand. Since Ricoh has bought Pentax, it is all in the family now :)
Last week, bought myself a fabulous birthday gift of Canon 100-400L lens. Since, I can't use that with my Pentax body, bought a Canon 7D.
I shoot mostly wildlife and birds in particular. So, for the budget (about 75k), I think one can't get a better wildlife lens than 100-400.
I still have my Pentax K-x and plan to use it as my backup body with a short/wide lens. My son is showing interest in using it, so like many many people, he is going to start photography lessons with a Pentax :)
Recently sold of my favorite FA50/1.7 to a forum member here and some times I wish I hadn't let that one go.
May be I will pick some lenses here. Thanks for reading this.

Welcome to the Forums !!! :D

Thats absolutely true in India. However the best lens for wildlife is the newer Sony 70-400mm lens which by virtue of being a newer optical design is better than the slightly dated 100-400mm lens. :)

However Sony lacks a good wildlife camera so Canon remains the best system for a wildlife photographer.
Are you a Konica Minolta or Sony Alpha DSLR user? If yes, then please check out http://www.flickr.com/groups/sony-alpha-india/
