Photo Proccesing Software
« on: August 12, 2011, 11:08:26 PM »
Hi, I am real newbie in photography, and like to edit and process my images after I take them using softwares. Right now, I use Photoshop CS5 and sometimes Picasa. What is the best software? Are there other softwares better than these two? Also, I am looking for a software which is easy to use..photoshop is very hard for me to use, so I am also looking for something which is not very complicated, and fills all my needs.

Thanks, Ravish.

If you are a real newbie, then Photoshop CS5 is enough for the next few years. What is it that you shoot that needs so much editing ?

Picasa is the easiest "Auto brightness", "Auto contrast", "I am lucky" :)
Light room falls next, if you feel you need more control on your images, even with RAW mode
Gimp,Paint.Net takes the next step to add more effects to your photos
Photoshop becomes the final destiny... with sophisticated tools.
There are numerous others, but the above are popular.
Hope this helps

If you have a large batch of photos to edit (vacation snaps, or some event snaps). Adobe Lightroom is the tool to use, make sure to shoot in RAW to capture the maximum details (and you can forget about adjusting the WB for every snap too!!).

If you have a lot of images and a free app like Picassa is not enough then Lightroom or the less expensive ACDsee are there.
