GKVK - that's near the Yelahanka crossing?

What's there to shoot? I see a lot of trees on google maps - anything stand out feature?

Not a lot for landscape shoot, but pretty good for birds and macro. I need to get back to macro, I am having withdrawal symptoms :P.

Nothing spectacular in the GKVK campus.  You've got a railway track/over-bridge, lots and lots of trees, a mango grove, a couple of play grounds, a small temple, a few buildings and basically that's it.    The birds have migrated due to extreme heat.  You'll surely get a few cattle egrets and a few spotted doves if you are lucky.  But it is a nice place for a morning walk.  Worth exploring once.   And yes a good place for macro photography.

Vignesh,
We could go explore the GKVK campus this weekend. I think Hayath would be interested too. Anyone else?
Veereshji,
I am in.. One small query though.. this the campus near Jakkur Air field right, not the one near hebbal???
Would Ideally prefer sunday morning, anytime is fine..

Yeah, I think what Vikram was referring to is the nearest landmark that's known to many. But, yes, it's closer to Jakkur air field. It's quite easy to spot, but you'd have to take the service road to enter it. If you go past it, you can just take a u-turn and enter the service road and get into the campus.

But, as Ashok said, not sure if we will be able to spot a lot of birds :(.

Vignesh, it is opposite to Jakkur Air field.  After Hebbal go straight towards Yelahanka and you'll find yourself near the GKVK gates.  The one next to Hebbal is the Military Farm.
Now the service road is merged to main road due to fly over construction.  If you miss the entrance you will have to drive back around 2kms and then take a U turn.  But it is very hard to miss.  It is soon after the L&T and is very easy to spot.  After L&T you'll get a Canara Bank ATM and you can slow down.  The entrance to GKVK will be to your left.
Veeresh, who knows whom the lady luck favors ?  You may get some birds in the early morning.  But it is a nice place to visit once.

Birders can try out Thattekere also. It's good for Landscapes, big lake, now I guess that would keep Vikram interested  ::). Veeresh, I was talking about this lake that day when we went to Vaderahalli..

Kaushikji,
Can you point out the lake's proper location on a map?? I am not getting any hits in google maps...
Also could you elaborate a bit more on Vaderahalli?? A quick google search reveals a croc occupied lake in a scenic village.. Is the lake still there, with the crocs??
Thanks.

I'm ok about that - I have a lot of catching up to do on my Leaf project and need to shoot about 15 leaves creatively. Plus I will only have about 3 hrs of shooting time over the weekend - so it's either at home using strobes or out and about where I know I'll get distracted with some other features :-)

Here it is, Thattekere - > http://goo.gl/maps/bYFv   It seems now it's known as Mahadeshwara Kere..
Vadherahalli is just off the Nice road-Kanakapura road junction - here -> http://goo.gl/maps/xC2U  .
About the crocs and similar reptiles, don't think there are any there. Probably you've found some other place. Can you post the link where you saw these?

Was thinking much earlier...say around 7am ? (my confirmation pending though)

Kaushik,
The lake you mentioned is near to the Anekal road, for some reason I thought it was around Jakkur.

I guess it will have to be GKVK exclusively then :)
