Its better you call up your local camera stores . why r u asking to the forum members ? u get a quote from a shop and then u might ask over here weather the  quoted price is good or bad , we will be always happy to help  :)

Thanks ras,

Had found out the price its Rs85355 in a canon store and outside with the local dealers they have given me a quote of Rs 77000 with 2yrs company warranty. i do believe this price should come down to at least Rs 72000 for the 7D body .

77k is not a bad price with b & w , it usually goes around 75k with papers and 70k w/o papers but these days most of the dealers are avoiding grey products atleast here in Kolkata , not sure about the situation overseas .

Most of the big dealers/distributors in Pune & Mumbai seem to have been blacklisted by Canon.

Reason?
- I'm told that since they were selling Canon products at a rate far less than what Canon recommended them to sell at. I heard this at the Canon Image Square recently. I was shown printout of emails from the Canon officials with exact wordings about black listing, no stock sale to these dealers etc. Example of the dealers: Big Camera, Kashish, FotoCenter etc at Mumbai. Camshot, Kirti at Pune.
- I then double checked with one of such (black listed) dealer and he also confirmed the same - that they were black listed since they would sell products at a very less price. However he also added that they're still selling Canon products at the same low price and such black listing is not affecting the way they do business.

The price of a 7D body (with bill & warranty)
- at this dealer = 76.5K
- At Canon Image Square = 85K

This information is about a week old.

Ya, he will give you Warranty Card with his stamp which I guess enough to claim warranty.

That kind of warranty is not a Canon warranty. It is the dealer's warranty to you. Canon will reserve their right to refuse service through warranty in case of issues. An easy way to check will be to ask the said dealer if his bill with his stamp will suffice to claim support through warranty from any Canon Service Center in any other part of India where he does not have a shop/presence.

You need the Canon warranty card stamped with the dealer's stamp to be able to claim support through warranty from Canon.

As far as I know it was not because of selling below the MOP but selling illegally imported stuffs as genuine Canon India (legally imported) product.

Every canon product that sold in India is registered at Canon India and same available to the authorized dealer. Dealer will only provide you the bill not the warranty card as here in India the warranty card doesn't comes with canon cameras or lenses (as we have in US) but the dealer bill will be suffice to claim the warranty and canon service centre.

So this will be the Dealer warranty which can be refuse by Canon SS later.

When I purchased my Canon 7D body from here (Bangalore) abt two years ago, I got a bill as well as the canon warranty card stamped by the dealer. When my dad purchased a Panasonic Lumix Point & Shoot a few months prior to that, there was no warranty card in the box, but the dealer gave the bill and the warranty card was couriered to us (via the dealer) in the next few days.

Cheers
