I had said earlier also Canon prices falls very rapidly and this will happen with Mk III also and it started falling from 2.4 lacks to 1.8 and even after falling down to 60% they find there products hard to sell.  ;D

Well canon seems to respond to the buyers very well after they ask "what is ur last price " or "can u give some more discount"
:-P

When did it happen to say 2.4 ? O_o

Its set to 1.75 lacs in US since the first day.

Indian pricing is 1.8 lacs and thats totally sounds perfect.

As I said before...

Its looks like to me that prices will fall by 30% max from current prices but not very soon.

5D Mark II is available 27% less from list price.I dont think 5d Mark III will go down more 30 %.

In that case, it is fair to compare D800 to 5D Mark II. Its a no brainer for people who want to go FF, apart from folks who already have invested a lot in lenses.

Canon has been increasing its price at almost all the levels now, the Mark II lens are significantly more then mark I etc. A market share loss to Nikon should wake them up..

I got the confirmation from my guy, from whom I buy everything that it should be between 1.75L - 1.80L only.

And thats a perfect price tag, IMO.

Lets see.

I will get it as soon as it gets in stock. :)

So how much u selling your MK II for...... :)
So are we gonna see lots of MK II's on sale ....
MK II 's are already on sale on JJ Mehta forum .....this is just the begginning :)

The price difference between D800 and 5Dm3 is too much , i am 100% sure after 3-6 months it will reduce by 200-300$ for sure.

@Aces - u r right Mark2 versions r too costly almost 50% more than mark1. But the thing is for last 3 years i am seeing lots of people using L series lens in spite of high price tag ,either he is pro or student . . Even in forum few years back very few people own L series. But now most have one.
So canon knows there is lots of demand for good quality lenses.

1.82L, thanks but no thanks. I feel they've priced the camera at least 35k more than what it should be.

ROTFL!! - so why were you seriously contemplating shifting to Nikon a week or so back??

PS: That link is for corrections in the UK and Irish market where they'd released the wrong price. Doesn't effect the price here.

@Vikram - Arindom has already tasted Nikon, Pentax and now Canon. His next camera is sure to be Sony !!! :D

In any case I am a bit surprised at the price difference between Canon and Nikon in India as I have generally seen at least Canon bodies being competitively priced vis a vis Nikon bodies.

I think the price difference will hurt canon. The price of 24-70 L II will alleviate it. Bad job by canon.

I will keep them both (5D Mark III & 5D Mark II), as I need 2 bodies for weddings and engagements.

And I might sell my 550D, since 5D mark 3 is good for sports and action, and I can always crop the pictures without any loss in IQ, so I can sacrifice the 1.6x. 550D.

Arrey - why so much competition between cameras - 5D MkIII and D800?

Why not competition between what results we turn out with those bodies? (and NO - not based on tonality, high-ISO performance, AF etc) - just end results. The pic!

PS: To add a little keeda .... Seriously Arindom????

Oh C'mon Vikram, cant we talk about the specifications of the cams, at least in this release season? If that is the case, I would not have known half that I know now from this forum(-of course, about gears ;) )

And on a *lighter* note, if it was not for those serious amateur photographers/gear-heads Canikony and others wouldn't have been able to deliver these equipments at a price point lower/at par (in real terms)  with the discontinued models.  If it was only about the end results, I would not have been posting this here on a forum which is funded for promoting camera sales among other things. If it was only about end results, photography would have remained rocket science.  So let us discuss, and who on earth would not love a Canon- Nikon war over specifications ?? ;)
