Whatsup with D7000?
« on: April 08, 2012, 12:30:47 AM »
I'm trying to place an order for Nikon D7000 but almost all online stores and dealers don't have stock :( I heard from one of the Nikon dealer that this is due to the situation in Thailand (floods). Looks like the current waiting period is 2 months or so. I don't really wanna wait that long.

Does anyone have an idea if there are any reliable sites online or shops in Chennai got D7000 available in stock? I'd like to purchase with B&W. Not interested in grey market.

Cheers!

LOL. How could it be the highest selling one if it is not even in stock? And highest 'sold' one in JJmehta buy/sell section too among the new crop of cameras!

Yeah I've seen a lot of used D7000's on sale. But somehow I'm attracted towards this one and was all ready to purchase this weekend. But.. :(  .. How about D90? Should I go for D90 and then invest the extra money on decent glass?

I've used Canon all these years and not really desperate to switch to Nikon. I am still considering 60D or 550D if not for D7000.

Get the 60D. You will love it since you already use Canon. No need to switch brands. It won't make 1 paisa difference to your photography. Maybe even worsen it initially in the days you are learning the new system.

Amazing enough for one to change brands? Should I sell my 60D and move to D7000? Will it give me better pictures?

Haris, only you can decide whether you want to switch to nikon or not....but if you do, wait for a month or two for the D7000. It is really an awesome camera...the D90 is no match for it. I have both, the D7000 DR & noise performance is miles ahead of the D90.

Judging by the crap coming out of your 60D I have no doubts that shifting can only improve your photographs. :P

@OP - Ok ok getting back on topic I would say forget the D7000 and get the 60D instead. Prices of the D7000 have skyrocketed lately and I have no idea when the prices will come down. I have used the D7000 and while it is no doubt a very nice camera I don't see any point waiting for 2 months and missing so many photo opportunities since you do not have any existing Nikon gear to use with the D7000.
Are you a Konica Minolta or Sony Alpha DSLR user? If yes, then please check out http://www.flickr.com/groups/sony-alpha-india/
