***Panchgani - Day 4*** page 3
« on: June 04, 2012, 10:05:24 AM »
I returned last night from a place called Panchgani - a hill station in the Satara district of Maharashtra. I have an ancestral house there so the place is like a second home to me after Bombay. I spent a good 9 days there and made an effort to take some photos every day.

I like hiking so spent quite a bit of time climbing and walking across hills to get a nice view of the valley….sharing a few pics here…as always - critique and brickbats are welcome

These were taken on my first day there...on the 25th of May..from the edge of a hill under really windy conditions...getting back home in the dark after climbing to the top is a bit a of a problem..thats one of the things i dont like about making photos - the return journey ;)

linking the pics from facebook so apologies in advance for the poor image quality!!

terrible resolution and sharpness due to linking from facebook:(

straight out of the camera...no post processing..

sooc again...no post processing

cropped and level / curve adjustment done

levels and curves adjusted - theres a white dot in the middle - thats the moon

The rest of the pics from Day 1 are here if you really want to take a look and have nothing better to do on a weekday :D -

Love the 2nd and last one.

Great work at sooc - I invariably feel that if someone has posted without processing, they're being lazy and have left a job half done ... but in this case, I can't see a reason behind processing them as you've done all that needs to be within the menus itself.

Liked 2nd the best. 1st would have worked for me more as I mentioned in FB if the motion blurring of tree wasn't there.

Second and third are lovely :). Looks like there's some pixelation in the last photograph?

Awesome series.  :-\

@Ayaz : In this extreme heat, you are keeping a water bottle (filled) in front of a thirsty person far from his reach. He can see the bottle but can't quench the thirst. Though you know how worst is FB compression algorithms, still you want us to quench the thirst with just seeing the bottle?  :(

Thanks guys....

@tdmumbai - yeah ok...will upload them..they're not all landscapes though...a mix of landscapes, flowers, cars etc etc - no macros and no street :p

@lightwave - the one you commented on fb is another pic..its similar but a vertical compo ;) the problems is with what fb does to the pics and not the pics IMHO
this ones not linked from fb..its the same pic however - let me know if it looks marginally better?

@Ashim - thanks...made a photopage on fb so i uploaded the pics there (www.facebook.com/Photography.by.Ayaz) now since they're already there its easier to link from there instead of uploading again elsewhere.....since you liked the second one here's another similar one but with the krishna river visible for ur viewing pleasure and its not linked from fb so the quality is hopefully a bit better ;p

@madhav - ok boss..i get the drift ;)

panorama of the valley - not linked from facebook -
