« on: June 06, 2012, 01:52:02 PM »
HI friends

I recently got a 50D with 18-55 and 55-250, i am planning to sell both the lenses and buy a new 15-85 or something else. what would be your suggestions for the same?

I need it for all the general purpose one solution for all.

A need must arise before you take decision to purchase. And that need comes from practising photography.

You shdn't purchase only because something is new in the market.

It seems you r searching all in one type of lens but this defeat the purpose of purchasing Dslr. A long zoom p&s will serve better purpose.

If you tell us your specific requirement then we will be in better position to guide you.
Regards & best wishes

what type of photography you want to do in future? lens suggestion heavily depends on that.

if you need general purpose all-in-one lens and that's the sole requirement, then a tamron 18-270 would suit your purpose.

cheers!

What do you think: http://www.flickriver.com/lenses/canon/canonefs55250mmf456is/ ?

Non-Photographic I'd suggest a tablet PC.
Photographic: keep the lenses and buy 2 books on photography.

Therein lie the seeds of gear lust and financial and photographic ruin. You will end up running more after lenses than photographs.

Shoot at least 500 photographs with each of the two lenses you have and then think about what you want next. Both of these are reasonably competent lenses in their own right, especially the 55-250 for whom no decent replacement costs less than 30k.
