Actually, f5.6 is the minimul apperture for effective Auto Focus. Tamron may have good motor, but it can not help at f6.3

aniltulsi:
Nikon has priced the 18-300mm lens at Rs. 72,950. Will anyone spend so much on such a lens? Professionals don't use such a lens, and beginners can't spend this much. Don't know the target market for this...

Brendon:
The 18-200mm is currently priced at 54k so a 74k price for the 18-300mm was expected IMO.

amit_hazari:
IMHO both 18-200 and 18-300 are overpriced.

Nikon's lenses are almost always priced at much higher levels than 3rd party equivalents. What you get in return is better build quality, better IQ in most cases, plus better resale in the long run. The sole 3rd party exception here is the beautifully manufactured Zeiss lenses but you lose AF, have a limited range and they sometimes cost more than equivalent Nikkors.

Of the 3 known Jap 3rd party manufacturers, it is Tokina, Sigma and Tamron in order of preference.

To some the extra money you pay for Nikkors is not worth it, to some it is.

Having had a not so good experience with Tamron a long time ago, I have decided to stick with only Nikkors for my kit.
