Jewel bug @ 3x
« on: July 27, 2012, 12:26:49 PM »
Had picked up this dead beetle during a field trip. With some free time on my hands, took this one out from the freezer.
Sorry if this bothers you. Personally I will never harm any of my subjects - becomes counter productive, but specimen shots is something I am ok with.

Shot with a Soligor 28mm f2.8 (thank you Ashok!), reversed in front of some ETs, the mm scale showed a magnification of 3:1

The "sweat" as it began to thaw out

Both single shots @ f11, yet to get my technique right to begin stacking :)

Thoughts please.

Cheers,
Hayath

Second one is superb but i am not liking the fact that it is a photograph of a dead insect.

Considering the magnification involved, both have come out very well.

Thank you everyone, and thank you especially Ashok. Without your super kind gesture this shot wouldn't have been possible :)

Amlan,
Understand your sentiment and hence I apologized in advance. I know this may not suit everyone's taste - especially when it involves a dead creature

Thank you Raj and Vimal.

At those magnifications the true "alien" side of insects show up :D
