Typical JD powers survey  ;D

Hmmm... How would you have done the survey differently to make it more "correct" or more "representative" of the truth, Amit?

:)

Oh..Thats simple Henry. Canon should have come a couple of points ahead of Nikon. Survey would have been perfect  ;). Does that sound about right ? Do they grow Grapes where you live, Henry  ;D ?

Come to think of it, J.D. Powers did not have to do all that. What a waste of money. They could have just checked the survey here. Canon is the clear winner.  ;)

Yes indeed. I have a few concord grapes along my fence, spilling over from my neighbor's vineyard. They are easily within reach, and they are so very delicious. Why do you ask? Have you by any chance read Aesop's Fables?

Most of voter for Canon are all entry level camera holders and beginners. :)
But when they will upgrade to Nikon then they will realize what they have missed till now. Nikon is for Pros and Canon is for just beginners.

Been away for some time folks.....BUT aHHH - this page 14 has been the most refreshing one I have seen in a long time..... And now as the plot thickens & being stirred with deathly concoctions - Henry started it all with J.D Power's help [aided by one those, "Oh Another Survey"] based & biased opinion & highly opinionated survey interpretations.

If Mt. Everest is the highest terra firma on earth @ 29028 feet - then Nikon's up there  ;)

And if the Mariana Trench is considered the deepest......... Canon resides right here!!!!!  ;D

Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench is the deepest point in Earth's oceans. The bottom there is 10,924 meters (35,840 feet) below sea level. If Mount Everest, the highest mountain on Earth, were placed at this location it would be covered by over one mile of water.......

:)

My observation had nothing to do with Cameras but in India atleast JD Powers survey defies conventional wisdom always.

Here is a first hand account of how JD power does survey in India atleast
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/indian-car-scene/41820-my-experience-jd-power-quality-survey.html

Well JD Powers regularly do survey for Automobile industry and somehow in 2008 Skoda topped in the sales satisfaction survey in India  :P this was despite the running horror stories of customers. You just need to check Skoda India facebook page to find what I mean , the PR page looks like customer grievance page.
after much pooh pooh in all magzines and online forums the next survey brought back predictable Honda and Maruti :-)  and no surprises Skoda along with them in top 3.

Brendon,

Look at it this way:

World Standard Carl Zeiss optics are not native to those other-brand, "me-too" cameras like Olympus, Nikon, Canon, and Pentax. But top notch Carl Zeiss optics are native to your SONY equipment.

I'm sure you must know how lonely it can be at the top. But I am confident that YOU can handle it, Brendon. And besides, someone has to lead the way between here and doomsday, December 21, 2012. Only the lead sled dog has a different, unobstructed view while the others are obsessed with one another's most uncomely attributes. Relish the magnificent scenery ahead and the clean, fresh air as you lead the way into the future.

;)

Thanks Henry, feeling better now. :D

Made me remember an incident at Swaroski Crystal Palace in Innsbruck Austria. It was very dark inside but had some nice crystal artifacts in some soft dim lighting.

I had a Minolta 50mm f1.7 (which cost me all of $45) on my cam and next to me was a guy using a Canon 7D with a 50mm f1.8

Even at ISO 1600 on his camera he was getting shutter speeds of 1/15 and his snaps were coming out a bit blurred.

After kinda giving up he was looking at my camera and was surprised at seeing I was shooting at ISO 400 and getting sharp noise free shots even at 1/6 secs exposure as my cam has IS inside the body which works with ALL lenses. :D

Just for kicks if there is inbuilt IS and also a 3ed party OS/VR lens on the cam how it will behave ?
3X4 = 12 Stop ? or 3+4 = 7 stop or 3 -4 = -1 stop if in-camera and in-lens are out of phase,

^^ That question has popped up many times on the Sony forums ever since Sigma launched OS lenses for the Sony mount. (Previous Sigma lenses with OS for Nikon/Canon were ported to the Sony mount without any OS system). However neither of the systems works in tandem so if you do activate both, chances are you will get much worse results than if each system was activated separately. :)

This hybrid system is actually very good as you get a viewfinder stabilized with OS/IS telephoto lenses where body IS cannot compete as effectively with in lens IS, in addition to the wide angle lenses where body IS can give any lens based IS a run for the money.

Too bad Sigma quality control is as flaky as it is now. If they could fix that they could create a very compelling alternative to OEM lenses.
